COURT APPEARANCE AND FINE PAYMENT

IMG 0078If you are a juvenile (16 years of age or younger) you must appear in court with a parent or legal guardian.  You will be contacted as the clerk may schedule an appearance time that differs from that of your citation.  If you are 21 years of age or younger and are charged with Public Intoxication, you are required to appear in court.  If you are 18 years of age or younger and are charged with taking, purchasing, consuming or accepting a tobacco product you are required to be in court. 

You may not wear shorts, sleeveless t-shirts, tank tops or hats in the court room.  If you present yourself in such a manner you will not be allowed in the court room. 

Be prepared for a metal detector upon entering the building prior to court.  Please leave metal implements in your vehicle as you will not be allowed in the court room. 

If you cannot attend the scheduled arraignment date you must contact the court no later than 72 hours prior to the appearance date on your citation.  If you have not contacted the court, have not paid your fine or made other arrangements you will be charged with a Violation of Promise to Appear.  This charge will be added after the 10th business day from the appearance date on your citation. 

If you wish to enter a plea of “Not Guilty” and request a trial, you must do so in writing prior to your arraignment date. 

Paying your fine prior to the arraignment date must be done online,  through the mail or in the office.  We accept cash, personal checks, money orders or cashier checks for fine payments only.  We do not accept personal checks for the payment of outstanding warrants.  Please write your ticket/docket number on your check or money order before presenting it to the court.

Paying Traffic Citations Just Got Easier

We are pleased to announce a new convenience for those who receive traffic citations.  Traffic citations can now be paid online quickly and easily. Defendants who are not contesting their citation can pay their fines with a credit or debit card online at www.TrafficPayment.com. Fines can also be paid via telephone at 1-800-444-1187. Bilingual operators are available to take telephone payments Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Traffic Payment will not receive payments for outstanding warrants. 

Those defendants with outstanding warrants can call American Municipal Services at 1-800-555-5160.  Defendants wishing to pay for their outstanding warrants with AMS can provide their driver's license number to access their warrant information. Bilingual operators are available to take telephone payments Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
